Title: Zombie pigmen AI issues Post by: Intangir on December 18, 2014, 05:26:19 pm heres the situation with pigmen
their AI was drastically altered in the 1.8 update by mojang there are several known bugs with vanilla 1.8 minecraft on the mojang bug tracker dealing with the many MANY flaws of the new zombie pigman AI the issues related to our server setup are: #1, they agro anyone who attacks one of them from far far away #2, they have extremely aggressive pathfinding code that takes up tons of memory and processor #3, they reagro and process their AI 20 times a second, instead of once every second or two like other mobs, causing them to waste 20-40 times more cpu and ram #4, they ignore all target changes through mods, they instead just immediately retarget whoever they decided to target (there must be some extra targetting data that it uses that no other mobs use, and isn't available to the mod api) #5, their speed is based off of their 'angry' level now, extra hard mode set their angry level to 2 billion plus (the max) to cause them to agro anyone around, which basically caused them to practically warp to you instantly and kill you in just a couple ticks (there is a damage cap per tick), they used to have a constant speed this is why we can't set auto agro pigmen ai anymore, it makes them warp speed, their normal angry levels are in the range of 500-700, which makes them a very manageable speed (similar to before) this is also why i have the number of pigmen capped far below the normal amount i reported a bug to the guys who make bukkit and spigot but they refuse to fix it, they say its mojangs fault so until mojang fixes it, which will probably be MONTHS or NEVER, or until spigot changes their mind when they pay some damn attention and realize how detrimental their new AI is to tickrates and fixes mojangs epic fails (again) we will not be able to have the normal amount of pigman activity on the server or to re-enable their auto agro |
