Wednesday 9/7 at 5pm central Cid will turn on the teleporter sending brave travelers to the surface of a hidden moon in a wide orbit in the shadow of the current survey world!

It will be reachable from just outside Cid's ship on the current survey world which is for now tentatively renamed to Spiralzana. you will be able to bring your inventory from survey to the new moon.

So be ready with plenty of food, supplies you can afford to lose, and whatever else you think is prudent for a journey into the unknown! be careful and have fun, see you then!

Ok so i have been updating/upgrading/testing/coding/patching and repeating furiously for the last 6 days to get everything back up to tip top shape

all of the worlds(servers) are upgraded to 1.10.2, all of the known bugs are fixed! everything is pretty much at 100%, stable, working, and fully playable! so there we are!

Furthermore I am looking to freshen things up with some new features and worlds soon, here is the list of my plans (same as before) for the future. (not really in any particular order)

* New survey worlds coming (first were going to explore a fairly simple world.. that probably wont be very habitable, after that i have another fun larger one that has a few interesting surprises you may discover over time)

* I want to merge world inventories. a few other plans depend on this. There are a few technical issues with this plan though that i have to work out. i have some ideas that will hopefully make this viable. This should also give survey worlds a bit more point to them because at least you can haul back your resources even if the world explodes or something.

* joint 'the end' dimension that is shared across worlds and reachable from anywhere (no point in having 5 different end dimensions on every world(server)

* Cross world portaling! i have a fun idea to make it so you can point to point beam from any world to another, without traveling through spaceships and space stations. It will be similar to the old stargate system back in the day, but instead you will build your own telepad like on the ships and use banners for addressing! the spaceport will be refitted for teleporting, and the ships will be refitted to deploy intergalactic relay station in deep space to relay the portal signals directly from player telepads to any other point across the intergalactic portal relay network! Smiley

* Might bring a few old worlds out of retirement if i can set them up compatibly to all host off of a single server. (if i still have protection data)

* new protection system revolving around golems to take care of bumper, snitch, and prison pearling necessities. they will be MUCH stronger than normal, will stop people from killing animals, will attack people who break protections, and will record all activity in their area like snitches. I also want to make that if you give them the heads of an enemy the will target them on sight to deny them access to an area. (this is a major undertaking and will probably not be available for quite a while)

* i also want to overhaul the citadel plugin to NOT use db, instead use local file system (makes it easier to manage and db isn't any faster) want to make it use uuids so name changes don't effect it, and want to make it take advantage of off hand materials as protections. and overhaul the permissions sytem (this would be a far off change after all of the others are done)

yep so thats the ideas i have in mind for the server, some of them are very long term goals, but if it comes together i think it will really make things alot of fun and simpler on the server

meiva is on 1.9+ now

its technically 1.9.2 but you can actually connect with 1.9.4 or 1.10.2 also

on 1.10 though it seems like all of the chest are invisible (but can still be used)

also be careful using auto jump in the skylands because you can easily fall off Wink

extrahardmode was disabled because it was doing some weird things, most of its features have been replaced by custom tweaks though, but some additional monster challenges and debuffs will be gone

shopkeepers and chairs are also disabled until i can fix or replace them

voting rewards are also disabled for now (its broken too..)

you won't be able to travel to and from spaceport yet because the spaceport is still on 1.8 for now

So the 1.9 update is finally out, looks like alot of exciting new stuff

I have some plans coming up for 1.9 and beyond. this is a loose roadmap and may change

First, like always we will have to wait for the modded servers and the mods to be updated to support 1.9, and there will probably be 2-3 different 1.9.x point releases immediately like there usually are so once 1.9 steadies out, and the updated mod server and mods are ready we will be moving to 1.9!

Most of the new features i will leave as is most likely, i don't see any issues with it personally, but i am going to be playing around with it a bit to make sure the new portal stuff will make sense.

Several of the mods we have been using MAY not be updated for 1.9 at all, it has been well over a year since the last major updates to them. so i am most likely going to have to replace them with new mods, we will see.

I am leaning towards merging all of the worlds in such a way where you can take inventory from world to world, and have them all share a new 1.9 end dimension.

I am also leaning towards cross world portaling via something similar to the old stargates. but i don't have a working mod for that yet. i am thinking of making a new one involving banners for addresses

the current survey world will become permanent and if i get the new stargates working and cross world inventories the space port will instead be a portal hub instead the ships will be gateships instead of taking you back and forth. some of the old worlds may even return if it works out.

the head mod i was thinking of making before i thought might be too much trouble for too little of a benefit (it would only help you if you had already seen the griefer on, with the same name, and killed them, and got a head. it couldn't help you against new threats you didn't know about, neither can pearls). i am instead now thinking of trying to beef up iron golems to be an anti griefing countermeasure instead. I haven't hammered out the details. but the prison pearl will most likely stay gone. Regardless of peoples gripes about having no prison pearl mod the impact on the server without it has been mostly positive, lots more new players stayed and were able to play. older players were much more interested in welcoming and working things out with new players rather than just pearling them on the first sign of trouble and alienating new members.

i think someone actually suggested the golem idea before but there were no mods and the mod api was incapable of supporting it at the time, but i tihnk it is possible now. details on this may follow if it looks ill be able to implement it.

so to summarize

1. move to 1.9
2. merge worlds/inventories (*alot of plans depend on this)
3. joint 'the end' dimension
4. new survey world
5. star gates
6. possibly old worlds?
*. golem's may replace several protective features (snitch/bumper/pearls)

Cid has discovered a much more comfortable planet and has decided to take a vacation there, even going so far as to landing his ship on the surface and letting interceptor run about. He must consider this planet pretty safe.

The previous hellish dark world survey mission was abandoned to memory
